Ideal Ice Cream has won eight awards in Season 6 of the Great Indian Ice-cream and Frozen Dessert competition that concluded at Gurugram on Thursday.
The contest is organised by DuPont Nutrition and Health and the Indian Dairy Association.
Briefing reporters on Saturday, proprietor of the company Mukund Kamath said that this year, Ideal Ice Cream has won three "Best In India" awards, four gold medals and one silver medal. Ideal Ice Cream has won "Best in Class" for Sorbet – Mango Sorbet (More than Aam), "Best in Class" for Innovation (Marzi Paan), "Best in Class" for Vanilla Frozen Dessert, gold for Vanilla ice cream, gold for Sorbet, gold for Vanilla Frozen Dessert, gold for Most Innovative (Marzi Paan) and silver for chocolate (Swiss Chocolate).
There were more than 380 entries in six categories. The competition introduced Sorbet as one of the award categories for the first time, to endorse its popularity as a healthier fruit-infused frozen product in the ice cream market. The panel for the contest consisted of world renowned ice cream specialists and 25 judges from leading food and beverage companies.
Kamath said that awards would not have been possible without hard work of the Ideal Ice Cream team and also the love and support of its customers. "I dedicate the award to Mangalureans," he said.
"Although Ideal Ice cream could not win the award in cool kids category, it has won the hearts of the people for its iPizza. iPizza has been a great hit among the customers as we have been getting lot of booking order for the same," said Kamath.
Stating that Ideal Ice Cream has been focusing on innovations, he said that the company will come out with unique product shortly. iShake will be introduced within a week and another ice candy will be launched shortly. Further, he said that he will be registering for brand name of iPizza and iShake.
Explaining on Sorbet, he said that it has no fat and milk. Rathnagiri Alphonso mangoes are used and one will get the taste of the mangoes.
